Sherlock Lives! Scotland Yard Notices Terror Trend
Although the US and Britain have together waged a six-year long "war on terror," the head of Scotland Yard's counterterrorism command has noticed that al-Qaida is still capable of doing devastating attacks.
From early in the war, many in the military and the government noted that invasion and aggression in Iraq actually helped the terrorist network gain strength ... many except those in the White House and 10 Downing Street, that is."Absolutely we're winning. Al-Qaida is on the run," Pres. Bush declared in Oct. 2006.
Of course, just leave it to some Democrat like Joe Biden to say something like, "Anybody who thinks we're winning these wars is just mistaken," on Hardballs with Tim Russert in Sept. 2006.
Of course, you don't have to be Chief Inspector of Scotland Yard to come to the same conclusion. How about Jon Basil Utley in his essay, " 36 Ways the US Is Losing the War on Terror?" OK -- so it IS a liberal blog ... but he points out such logical items as:
#1 -- "... turning most of the world against us ... "
#4 -- " America's government is slowly being bankrupted." (Although I'm not sure how Utley defines "slowly."
#14 -- "The American military is stretched thin."
#17 -- American intelligence is discredited for the foreseeable future.
# 35 -- We have lost freedoms under the PATRIOT Act
And last but certainly not least:
#36 -- America's loss of power and reputation, and the financial havoc created by funding this war will have repercussions for a long, long time.
